"With the exception of an adoption by a stepparent or relative, a child can not be placed into a prospective adoptive home unless the perspective adoptive parents have received a favorable preliminary home study, including criminal and child abuse clearances."
Florida
Adoption Disclosure, 2008
Little Angels has a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who will conduct your home study if you do not already have one. The home study process which qualifies you to adopt, includes, criminal background checks, reference letters, health physicals, financial verification, and an extensive interview with the social worker in your home. Once you have contacted the social worker, she will forward you her home study packet with information for you to get started on before your personal interview with her.
If you have a home study from another private agency, we will review it and make sure that it is acceptable for our adoption process. The attorney and agency will need the original home study from that agency.
Most private adoption agencies can not take state or Department of Children and Families home studies as they have different requirements than private home studies.
A home study, no matter who prepares it, is only valid for one year from the date of criminal background clearances.
